May 1st – 5:00 to 8:00 6:15 Artist Talk – Ronn Brown Music in the evening provided by Gary Andry
Gordy Fine Art and Framing is pleased to open a new exhibition of photographs by career photographer Ronn Brown. Refreshments will be served, and the artist will be on hand to engage with visitors. The show will remain on view until May 30.
A native of East Central Indiana, Mr. Brown was based in Los Angeles for over 20 years. There he focused mainly on photographing musicians, actors, models, and often worked for producers in the film and music industries. This kind of photography requires superb technical skills in operating the camera and lights, but he became highly sought after because of his bold imagination placing his subjects in inventive poses and dress.
Since moving back to Muncie in 2020, he has established a studio on North Walnut St. and is very active continuing his work. This exhibition focuses on images that he has made since his return to Indiana.
Mr. Brown is also a photo-historian and collector who recently curated an exhibition of photographs called People and Places 1873 – 2000, from the collection of the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State. The Gordy show coincides with that exhibition until it closes on May 23. We encourage people who are interested in Ronn’s work to also visit the Owsley.
Before moving to Los Angeles in 1997, he attended Ball State in the photojournalism and art departments. He credits much of his career success to Jack’s Camera Shop in Downtown Muncie where he taught lighting classes for 12 years. There he refined his studio skills that made his eventual career one of many that were launched at Jack’s.
