Valentine’s Day pressure is real. The reservations, the expectations, the question of “are we doing something?” can sneak up fast.
The good news? You don’t have to overthink it. Around Muncie and Delaware County, there are plenty of ways to turn a regular night out into a solid Valentine’s plan. And since Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, you’ve got even more room to stretch it into a full weekend
We grouped a few ideas based on the kind of things you already like doing together. Steal one idea, build a whole night, or mix and match.
For the cozy couple
If staying in almost sounds better than going out, but you still want to make the night count, this is your lane.
Kick things off at Ink Drinkers Anonymous. It’s low-pressure in the best way. Browse the shelves, swap book recommendations, and maybe even pick out something new for each other.
Next, swing by Record Parlor of Muncie and flip through vinyl together. Even if you don’t know what you’re looking for, it’s fun to spot old favorites or laugh at album covers you forgot existed. Bonus points if you leave with something to play when you get home.
For dinner, Elm Street Brewing Co. is a reliable choice when you want something nice and more casual that you don’t have to dress up too much for. They are featuring a special Valentine’s Day menu for two. Make your reservations now and inquire about live music during the weekend.

Wrap things up with a show!
- Muncie Civic Theatre is running Groundhog Day, based on the hit film, from February 12–22, on Mainstage, and the Studio Series show, The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals, from February 13–22, if you want something a little different.
- Aerial Annex’s Valentine’s Show of aerial silks performances on February 15 at 6 PM at MadJax brings something unexpected you’ll talk about all the way home.
- Sweethearts presented by Magic City Burlesque hits the stage at Room 5 Piano Bar on February 14. It’s playful, fun, and tickets are cheaper if you buy ahead.

For the foodie couple
If your love language is planning the next meal before you’re done with the current one, this is your Valentine’s Day. Instead of committing to one big reservation, make a day (or night) out of it and turn Valentine’s Day into a mini food crawl around town.
Start things slow with brunch at By Hand & Fork. It’s a local favorite for a reason with mimosas and seasonal special items.
When it’s time for dinner, Downtown Muncie has a lot to offer. Vera Mae’s Bistro, Adams Street Chophouse, and Ron Lahody’s Steakhouse & Butcher Lounge are all go-to spots for steak and upscale dining. You can’t go wrong with any of them! Each brings its own style, so it’s worth checking their social pages and websites ahead of time to see what their special Valentine’s menus or features will be.
After dinner, keep the night going with a drink (or two). RoHo’s Martini Bar is the move for craft cocktails, while Tonne Winery is perfect if wine is more your thing. Tonne will be hosting a Valentine’s Dinner on February 14 including a catered dinner and dessert for $45/person. Make sure to call and make your reservations before spots fill up.
End with a sweet treat! Swing by Mancino’s Sweet Shop, where you’ll find Hershey’s Ice Cream and freshly baked gourmet cookies. If you’re feeling ambitious, grab an ice cream cookie sandwich and call it the grand finale.

For the creative couple
If a typical dinner date feels a little predictable, and you’d rather make something, start here.
Get creative together at Made in Muncie Pottery, where you can paint a piece of your choosing, from sculptures to plateware and décor. You’ll leave your pottery there to be fired in the kiln, then pick up your finished masterpiece another day. Happy Accidents Art Studio in Yorktown also has open studio sessions to let you get your hands dirty (in the best way). Open studios are available Fridays and Saturdays starting at 9:30 AM, but you’ll want to make reservations ahead of time.
If you’re more into wandering and discovering, spend some time at Minnetrista Museum & Gardens. Between rotating exhibits like the Threads of Home enamel and photography exhibit and the popular Bob Ross Exhibit, it’s easy to move at your own pace and talk about what catches your eye.
Looking for a date that’s easy, thoughtful, and still feels special? Ball State University checks all three boxes. The David Owsley Museum of Art is perfect for a slow stroll through over 1,000 works of art on display. Pair it with a visit to the Charles W. Brown Planetarium to add a little extra magic to the night.

For the adventurous couple
Experiences make the best memories! Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to try something new together.
Start with Mad Axe Muncie, where axe throwing adds just enough competition to keep things interesting. It’s equal parts adrenaline and laughs, and way more fun than it sounds (especially once you get the hang of it). Reserve your lane ahead of time online.
If roller skating is more your speed, Gibson Arena is a classic. Whether you’re confidently flying around the rink or hanging onto the wall for dear life, it’s one of those dates where you’re guaranteed to laugh.
Get your tango on! If you want to try something that’s a little outside your comfort zone, Harmony Movement Studio is worth a look. They offer evening group dance classes with drop-in options to test the waters. For something more personal, couples can also request a private lesson. Just plan ahead and check the studio’s schedule, since classes and private lessons may be limited around weekends.

Do something that feels right for you with that special someone this Valentine’s Day. A quiet night out, a great meal, a creative experience, or a little friendly competition all turn into memories you’ll cherish together for years to come.
