Find Your Happy Place Outdoors

If fresh air and wide-open spaces sound like your kind of adventure, Delaware County is the perfect destination for you to explore. Whether you prefer two wheels, sturdy hiking boots, or a paddle in hand, there’s plenty to do. Come for an all-weekend outing or a quick day escape; the trails and waterways make it easy to get outside and do something memorable.

Delaware County by Foot, or Bike, Or blades...

Start your journey on the Cardinal Greenway, Indiana’s longest rail-trail. Stretching 62 miles from Marion to Richmond, this paved path is perfect for biking, walking, running, inline skating, and even cross-country skiing during snowy times. The trail also connects to the White River Greenway, a 5.6-mile paved path following the river’s edge, offering stunning water views and easy access to parks, picnic areas, wildlife-watching spots, and Ball State University.

Go with the Flow

For those who love being on the water, the White River is calling. Kayak or canoe through scenic stretches of the river, with convenient launches throughout the county. Cast a line for bass or catfish, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Rent the right equipment with Canoe Country or Ball State Outdoor Pursuits and enjoy a day on the water.

Set sail, hit the trails, or unwind with a relaxing day at the beach or on the boat—Prairie Creek Reservoir is a 750-acre outdoor playground packed with adventure.

The Place to Play Hard

Delaware County is home to a variety of engaging parks. In Muncie, play the 18-hole disc golf course at McCulloch Park, drop into a thrill at the new stake park at Westside Park, or take a walk down the Memory Spiral at Heekin Park.

Daleville’s Town Hall Park is home to one of the region’s best splash pads. At Morrow’s Meadow in Yorktown you can relax by the gently rolling stream of White River. With so many golf courses in Delaware County, enjoy hitting the fairways during your next visit.
